SCRID Board Meeting & FREE Workshop for Sign Language Interpreters

There comes along every so often an incredible example of ASL classifier usage. Often interpreters are challenged when faced with the opportunity to interpret for this person. Effective interpreting requires intensive study, comprehensive training, and practical application of the techniques and theories learned.

This workshop will examine classifer and non-manual marker usage by a well-known YouTube Deaf vlogger. This will be a chance to identify your areas for improvement in a safe environment and provide a chance to model the classifiers and non-manual markers used by the speaker. This will be a small working group seminar with video source language content, practical application and expressive use and feedback sessions.

0.20 CEUs available for the workshop.

Comments * Great idea! * Nice moderation of small groups. Pace was nice and allowed for maximum learning. Excellent video material and resources for further individual professional development (YouTube) Thank you! * Daryl did a great job! * Great use of audio visuals. Good encouragement of interaction & participation. * Thank you for the time and effort you put into this. * Wonderful format - back to basics that are so useful!! * We got a 30 minute late start. Needs to be a little bit more organized. * Very motivating. Thanks! * I enjoyed the time analyzing and seeing how ASL uses so many Cl & NMM & space. * I wish the workshop was a little longer than 2 hours. * I love the impact of a short workshop "get in quick". Nice work.
