Host an Activity that Offers RID CEUs
Description
Sponsor Initiated Activities (SIAs) are hosted by a Sponsor and developed in coordination with activity presenter(s), then presented for group instruction or for individual study. Examples include short courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, teleconferences, and distance learning (e.g. continuing education publications, teleconferences, multimedia instruction materials, and programmed learning materials).
NOTE: SIAs must be reviewed and submitted to the RID activity database not later than 30 days prior to the commencement of the activity. Requesters must submit SIA application form not later than 45 days prior to the activity. Late paperwork will not be processed.
Process
ACTIVITY APPROVAL
At least 45 days prior to the activity:
Request approval of your activity by submitting SCRID's SIA Request Form. Upon submission you will be emailed a copy of your response, with a link you may use to return and add additional information, before and after the activity. Keep this email for futher use. The form will provide supporting information as needed on each of the following items:
- Logistics such as title, presenter, date, time, contact person, etc
- A rough agenda of activity and break times. This will be used to help determine the number of CEUs to be available to participants.
- Target audience, Content Area, Participant Content Level, etc
- Workshop description to be used in advertising
- Clear and measurable educational objectives
- Presenter bio/resume
- Evaluation & Assessment plans - template available
- Certificate of Completion template - template available
- Flier - required elements outlined within the SIA Request Form
- Slide Deck - optional
*NOTE: Items 1-6 must be initially submitted. Items 7-9 may be developed and submitted within seven (7) days after SCRID CMP has approved your request. Item 10 submission is optional.
Upon SCRID CMP approval of your activity:
- Submit payment for workshop sponsorship by clicking on the item shown at the bottom of this page. If you are a SCRID or RID Region V Affiliate Chapter member, the cost of each activity is $50.00 per activity. You must be logged into your SCRID account to receive the member rate. If you are not a member, the cost is $75.00 per activity. This payment is non-refundable. Payment must be received before paperwork processing can begin.
- Within seven (7) days, ensure items 7-9 above have been uploaded to your SIA Request Form. Access your submission form from the confirmation email that auto-sent when you first submitted the form.
- Ensure you develop with the SCRID CMP a clear plan for assessing participant engagement. Assessment must take place during the activity, and be reported following. This helps to maintain the integrity of the CMP system and is a critical component for sponsorship.
- Ensure you develop with the SCRID CMP a clear plan for sending out Certificates of Completion. If you chose to use the SCRID template, a link will be provided which participants may use to request and receive their certificate.
POST-ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
No later than 30 days following the activity:
- Return to your SIA Request Form submission and provide the following:
- Participant Attendance Verification: Please upload participant attendance verification in the manner arranged with your sponsor prior to the event. It is required that the Sponsor ultimately have an accessible document that includes the first and last name, and RID number of each participant whom you attest has met engagement requirements. Note: Last name and RID number must be CLEAR and ACCURATE and MATCH the information held by RID. Submission serves as verification of the accuracy of the information.
- If presenters have been approved to earn CEUs for the activity (must be their first time presenting the activity, and may be for General Studies CEUs only), ensure the presenters' first and last names, and RID numbers have been added to the Participant Attendance Verification.
- No partial CEUs will be awarded
- If you supplied the evaluation form, upload a summary of responses. If you used SCRID's form, the CMP will ensure you receive the results for your records and use.
- Participant Attendance Verification: Please upload participant attendance verification in the manner arranged with your sponsor prior to the event. It is required that the Sponsor ultimately have an accessible document that includes the first and last name, and RID number of each participant whom you attest has met engagement requirements. Note: Last name and RID number must be CLEAR and ACCURATE and MATCH the information held by RID. Submission serves as verification of the accuracy of the information.
Upon receipt of final submissions, the Sponsor will review information for completeness, and submit credits to the RID. Please allow up to two weeks post final submission for your CEUs to be processed.
Housekeeping
RID forms and procedures are subject to change without notice. SCRID's procedures will change to reflect RID requirements.
SCRID is audited by RID to determine if RID’s procedures/guidelines are adhered to for approving workshops/events. Failure to pass the audit would result in SCRID losing sponsorship status. We ask you to keep this in mind as we work together to gather information for sponsorship.
You will automatically be sent a copy of your form submissions. Please preserve copies of all submitted documents and information for your records.
